His second album Runt: The Ballad of Todd Rundgren consists of mostly piano-led ballads, with the exceptions being 'Bleeding', 'Parole' and 'Chain Letter'. He was playing most of the instruments himself, as he was becoming very particular about arrangements/5(43).

   Upon its release, Rolling Stone called The Ballad of Todd Rundgren "the best album Paul McCartney" never made, and even if the album doesn't sound particularly McCartney-esque, it does share the homespun, melodic charm of the best of his early albums/

   This edition features, for the first time ever on CD, all the different mixes, performances and exclusive songs from the November mis-pressing of the album. The Ballad of Todd Rundgren () features more of Todd's Laura Nyro-inspired Soul/Pop ballads, and another hit in 'Long Flowing Robe'/5(27).

   He left Nazz in to pursue a solo career and released Runt (), Runt: The Ballad of Todd Rundgren () and double LP Something/Anything? () on which he singly wrote, performed and produced 3 of the 4 sides of the album, the 4th side being a single live take with a studio band.

   Apr 21,  · The Ballad of Todd Rundgren- This is an album that may deserve a higher rank. It is a beautiful album that laid the groundwork for “Something/Anything.” The Individualist – This album just kicks ass. It is a sonic assault with some great hooks.

About half of the tracks were performed by Rundgren alone, with the other half recorded with varying configurations.
